I’m overdue for a post. I know I am. When I have had time, I forgot. When I remembered, I didn’t have time. Isn’t it funny how that works?

Anyway, it has been quite the busy few weeks. First, VBS rolled around as it does every summer. It steams into town and flattens everyone who volunteers. It was fun. However, by the time Thursday night arrived, I was ready to go lay on my living room floor and stare at the ceiling fan. Liz, the youth, and I had a lot of fun. We engaged in several services projects around town.

Next, Les’ mother, Frances, passed away almost two weeks ago. I did not have much of a chance to get to know her. However, she had an infectious smile. I’ll never forget the smile she had on her face the day I met her. She told me that I was “cute.” Her words … not mine. Les told me that Frances was always supportive of whoever her minister was. For three months, I was her minister. I felt her love and support despite her condition.

Last week was one of those weeks where everything seemed to go wrong. The internet modem, router, and network card were zapped in the storms at the church office. Between that and fixing my porch, my whole week was shot.

So, I’ve determined that this week will be better. The porch is done, back steps stained, computer stuff at the office fixed, and the house is cleaned. Sermon: check. Bills: paid.

Time to slow down this week and remember that life is pretty good and God is too.
